Workforce Development

Paving Pathways to Success

A steady, good-paying job is essential for financial security, yet many hardworking families still struggle to cover basic needs despite earning above the federal poverty level. These ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained, Employed) households work hard but often face wages that don’t keep up with the cost of living, forcing them to make tough choices—balancing rent and groceries, childcare and medical bills. One unexpected expense can push them into crisis.

Workforce Development is a critical part of United Way of Tarrant County’s initiatives, integrated into our maternal health, youth gun violence prevention and veterans’ support programs. Through our SEEN project (Supporting Employment Efforts Now), we’re dedicated to enhancing the financial stability of ALICE families and individuals, helping them build a more secure future.

SEEN (Supporting Employment Efforts Now)

Our SEEN program creates opportunities for ALICE workers to transition into high-wage, high-demand careers. We’re currently offering specialized training and certifications in trucking, helping participants obtain their commercial driver's license to enter a thriving industry with competitive wages.

Beyond job training, SEEN participants receive financial coaching to help them achieve financial independence.
