ARLINGTON, Texas (Jan. 9, 2023) — United Way of Tarrant County (UWTC) today announced the promotion of Ruth Assi, MSW, to regional director of the organization’s Arlington office.
In this role, Assi will collaborate with community leaders to provide a comprehensive approach to addressing social issues in the greater Arlington area and throughout the county, as well as assist with community planning and capacity building. She also will support UWTC’s Northeast Steering Committee, which addresses the human service needs of residents living in Northeast Tarrant County. Prior to this promotion, Assi served as program manager for UWTC-Greater Arlington.
“Ruth brings fresh ideas and passion to the work we do in Arlington and its surrounding areas,” said Regina R. Williams, vice president of Community Investment and chief impact officer. “I have had the pleasure of watching her grow into an impactful leader in just a short time, and I look forward to seeing all we can accomplish with Ruth at the helm.”
Assi first started working at UWTC in 2015 where she served as staff ombudsman, advocating for older and disabled adults living in assisted living facilities. In 2017, the City of Fort Worth hired her as community engagement liaison and then as interim community engagement manager. She returned to UWTC in 2022 as program manager for UWTC-Greater Arlington. Assi earned a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Social Work from the University of Texas in Arlington.
“I’m excited to continue to work with community leaders and local organizations to advocate and amplify the voice of Arlington residents,” said Assi. “I have so much appreciation for United Way of Tarrant County and the work we do every day to improve our community. I’m thankful to be a part of it.”
