United Way of Tarrant County today announced the Texas Veterans Network-North Texas program was awarded a $100,000 grant from the Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation to provide social services to veterans, active-duty military and their families in the North Texas area.

Texas Veterans Network-North Texas provides access to services, resources and programming and connects those in need with Veteran Service Organizations (VSOs), Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), federal, state and local government programs. The grant will allow the Texas Veterans-North Texas program to expand its services by funding the hiring of a relationship manager and an intake specialist to provide coordinated care to those who have urgent needs.

“More than 500,000 veterans call North Texas home, and it is important they have a place to turn to should they find themselves in need,” said Leah King, president and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County. “We are grateful for the Carl B. & Florence E. King Foundation grant, which will increase our ability to help those in North Texas who proudly served our country.”

The Texas Veterans Network-North Texas program is part of United Way’s Mission United initiative, which helps veterans, active-duty military members and their families in North Texas find community resources and gain access to a variety of services including primary, specialty and mental health care; job training and employment; housing assistance; and education to develop skills for transitioning to civilian life.

Active-duty service members, veterans and military families who are in need can access services by calling 844-4TX-VETS (844-489-8387) or by visiting www.TexasVeterans.Network.
