TARRANT COUNTY (November 14, 2022) – This November, United Way of Tarrant County celebrates 100 years of serving residents from every corner of Tarrant County. A series of public events will honor and commemorate the centennial milestone, with GET UNITED WEEK providing press access to interviews and commentary from United Way and community and business leaders on key focus areas and the major needs facing Tarrant County. GET UNITED is a multi-year campaign from United Way of Tarrant County encouraging residents, businesses, civic leaders, partner agencies and fellow nonprofits to support our local communities.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15
WHAT: Tarrant County Commissioners Court Meeting Tarrant County Commissioners Court will issue a proclamation, read aloud during their meeting, marking November 17, 2022, as GET UNITED DAY in honor of United Way of Tarrant County’s 100th birthday

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17
WHAT: GET UNITED DAY and Centennial Celebration Kickoff Event United Way of Tarrant County and civic and business leaders will share the vision for the next 100 years of service to the region.
This event features a press conference including Leah M. King, President and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County; the Honorable Jeff Williams, former Mayor of the City of Arlington; Zak Andersen, VP at BNSF; Hadley Woerner, President at Frost Bank; representatives from Rainwater Charitable Foundation; Chuck Morgan, voice of the Texas Rangers, and other local leaders. A 30-foot art installation inspired by United Way’s Get United campaign will also be unveiled at Globe Life Field.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 20
WHAT: Fort Worth Community Holiday Tree Lighting presented by Amazon Back by popular demand, Fort Worth kicks off the holiday season with its community holiday tree lighting celebration. Dignitaries Leah M. King, President and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County, Mayor Pro Tem Gyna M. Bevins, County Commissioner Roy Brooks, Fort Worth ISD superintendent Dr. Angela Ramsey and Vickie Yakunin, Amazon North Texas Community Officer, will light the tree one hour prior to the start of Fort Worth’s Parade of Lights. This year’s tree – at 65 feet – is the tallest live Christmas tree in Texas.
