When the voice of the Texas Rangers, Chuck Morgan, kicks off an event, you know it’s going to be a great day! We were honored to have Chuck as our emcee at Get United Day, Nov. 17 at Globe Life Field, when UWTC, local leaders, community members and special guests celebrated our organization’s centennial birthday and the launch of our Second Century Campaign.
As our President and CEO Leah M. King stated at the event: “We have a vision for a Tarrant County that we all can contribute to, can benefit from. Get United is the embodiment of our drive for United Way as we enter a Second Century of serving our communities. It is the belief that when the 64 zip codes spanning Tarrant County can come together with a shared vision, we can create communities that are stronger, more prosperous, and more equitable.”
Those zip codes were represented on magnets covering a giant commemorative mural unveiled at the event, with the help of Second Century campaign chairs the Honorable Jeff and Karen Williams, Arlington Mayor Jim Ross, Ms. Opal Lee and others in attendance. This mural now stands in the North Plaza of Globe Life Field through early January, before it starts traveling to major events across Tarrant County.
