Warming Up to a Good Book on a Cold Night

The air was frigid outside, but the Reading Oasis was warm and cozy inside at Lowery Road Elementary School in Fort Worth November 13 as families tried out the new reading center as part of the school’s TEKS through Tech Family Night. Parents also received their Club Connect cards that provide access to online reading resources to help children stay engaged with reading outside of the school day.

Teachers at the school have added their own decorator touches to the Lowery Road Elementary Reading Oasis to give it an extra “tropical” feel. Kindergarten teachers are working to enlist grandparents and other adults to come to the Oasis and read with students. United Way of Tarrant County installed the Oasis with funds and volunteer help from Basic Energy.
