A United Way of Tarrant County EARN WELL Initiative

powered by JPMorgan Chase Foundation

A JPMorgan Chase Foundation funded program with a charter to build career opportunities in the Information Technology (IT) field for Tarrant County residents with limited experience.  Partnering with Workforce Solutions, the United Way plans to meet the goals of the program by:

  • IDENTIFYING & PLACING local candidates in community-based, I-T related certification programs

  • PARTNERING with local employers to provide paid internship positions for the certified candidates

  • IMPLEMENTING 50 internships in 2017

EMPLOYER BENEFITS

Find future employees – An internship program is a year-round recruiting tool.

Test-drive the talent – Hiring someone as an intern is the most effective way to evaluate their potential as a full-time employee.

Increase productivity – Setting up an internship program allows you to take advantage of short-term support.

Increase employee-retention rate – According to NACE’s 2009 Experiential Education Survey, almost 40% of employers reported a higher five-year retention rate among employees they’d hired via their internship programs.

Enhance perspective – New people bring with them novel perspectives, fresh ideas, and specialized strengths and skill sets.

Take advantage of low-cost labor – Interns have modest wage requirements and  are often the most highly motivated members of the workforce.
