After piggy banks were raided and couch cushions searched by Fort Worth ISD children donating to the United Way student coin campaign, those thousands of dollars in dimes, quarters and dollar bills were picked up at more than 125 schools by a small fleet of Fort Worth ISD van drivers and United Way staff members.
When the hefty bags, buckets and jars of donations from elementary, middle and high school students were carefully counted, the final coin campaign total was an impressive $38,402. The money was added to contributions given by Fort Worth ISD employees for a grand total of $203,429.
The annual student coin campaign helps children learn about the needs of others in the community and provides a simple way they can help. Contributions to United Way of Tarrant County are used for local strategies that support opportunities for improved education, income and health.
Thank you, Fort Worth ISD!
