Poverty continues to be a critical issue facing Tarrant County and United Way Tarrant County remains firmly committed to finding solutions to address poverty and its root causes. Increasing earning potential through skills-based job training is the single most effective way to move and keep a family out of poverty according to Urban Institution. Additionally, Tarrant County faces a shortage of employees with mid-level skills. United Way provides Job Training scholarships to address both employee shortages as well as to address long-term poverty.
