United Way is working with our partners to confront the realities of the rising epidemic of dementia throughout Tarrant County.
Today, more than five million Americans are living with dementia with one in eight people age 65 and older and one in three is age 85 and older. They are supported by 15.5 million family members and friends who provide 85 percent of their help. Nearly 60 percent of people with dementia live in their own community homes and one in seven live alone. By 2025, the number of people age 65 and older with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia is estimated to reach 7.1 million.
