More than three dozen BNSF Railway corporate summer interns in the Dallas Fort Worth area braved the heat during a United Way Day of Caring recently at ACH Child and Family Services in Fort Worth and Harvesting Hope Community Garden in Arlington.
“BNSF is very committed to community involvement, even creating opportunities for summer interns to be involved in that process,” said United Way of Tarrant County Senior Donor Relations Manager Matt Dufrene. At Harvesting Hope Community Garden (shown above), the interns removed dead plants and trees, weeded growing beds and moved soil to the beds.
At ACH Child and Family Services, the hard-working interns picked up trash, cleaned the playground area, and did dusting, moppingand sweeping. “ACH simply does not have the staff capacity to do some of the work that the volunteers did,” said Matt. “This makes a huge impact on organizations like ACH.”
