Four local parks have never looked better since volunteers devoted part of their Saturday morning May 7 to cleaning up litter during a unique volunteer event with an unforgettable ending for four lucky volunteers.
In cities across the United States and Canada, United Ways are teaming up with Beyoncé and Parkwood Entertainment to provide people with opportunities to make a difference and create real impact by giving back. Locally, United Way of Tarrant County partnered with the City of Fort Worth for the “Bey4uway Volunteer Experience” at Marine Park in north Fort Worth, Krauss-Baker Park in south Fort Worth, Lake Como Park in west Fort Worth, and Trinity Park in central Fort Worth. Volunteers fanned out with bright yellow trash bags, leaving behind no Styrofoam cup or scrap of paper in their path. All of the volunteers received LIVE UNITED T-shirts, and through random drawings, one volunteer at each of the four parks won a pair of tickets to the May 9 Beyoncé concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Congratulations to the winners: Fatiha Faarisullah, Karlicia Lewis, Twyla Peachy and Teresa Wilson.
Pilar Candia, District Director of City of Fort Worth District 2, drew the winning name at Trinity Park. Well-known photographer Brian Luenser donated his talent to take photos and video at Trinity Park. Thank you both for your assistance, and thanks to all who helped make Tarrant County better—and cleaner—on May 7.
