Barclay E. Berdan, FACHE, CEO of Texas Health Resources (shown at left), has been named Chair of the United Way of Tarrant County 2016-2017 campaign. As chair, he will lead the volunteers who will raise funds at hundreds of Tarrant County workplaces to support the health and human service work of United Way and its partner agencies.
Texas Health Resources is one of the largest faith-based, nonprofit health systems in the United States and the largest in North Texas in terms of patients served. Berdan joined Texas Health in 1986 as Vice President/Administrator for Texas Health Southwest. He became CEO of Texas Health in September 2014.
Berdan was Chair of the Texas Hospital Association for 2008-2009. In 2013 he received the Earl M. Collier Award for Distinguished Health Care Administration, the association’s highest honor. He is Chair of the American Heart Association Tarrant County Chapter and serves on the Steering Committee of the Fort Worth Blue Zones Project.
Kevin Buehler (left), the retired CEO of Alcon Laboratories Inc., is the new United Way of Tarrant County Board Chair. He takes the reins from Scott Spiker, CEO of First Command Financial Services, Inc., who remains a United Way officer as Immediate Past Board Chair. Buehler led the 2015-2016 United Way campaign.
Also elected to officer positions are Tommy Lawler, Partner, Weaver – United Way Treasurer, Audit and Finance Committee Chair, Investment Committee Chair, and Compliance Officer; Tim McKinney, United Way President and CEO; and Beverly Boyd, United Way Corporate Secretary.
Others elected to United Way leadership roles for 2016-2017 include Jean Wallace, Vice President Human Resources, Lockheed Martin – Chair, United Way Benefits and Compensation Committee; Attorney Corey Fickes, Partner, Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson LLP – Chair, United Way Governance Committee; Walter Amaya, Plant Manager, GE Transportation and GE Manufacturing Solutions Supply Chain Executive – Chair, United Way Strategic Planning Committee; Richard Casarez, Vice President, Fort Worth Customer Operations, Oncor Electric Delivery – Chair, United Way Diversity Committee; and Community Volunteer Glen Sirles, Co-Chair, United Way Community Development Committee.
United Way Board members elected to a new three-year term are Riz Chand, Justin Chapa, Sean Donohue, Robin Hamilton, Rachel Harris, Jill Lyttle, Steve Newton, James Powell and Tom Stallings.
Directors elected to a second three-year term are Richard Casarez, Marcelo Cavazos, Corey Fickes, Tommy Lawler, Mark Nurdin, Richard Pierce and David Webb. Barclay Berdan was elected to a one-year term.
