Application deadlines have been extended for the Blueprint for Board Service training class that starts April 7. The “early bird” deadline to submit the application form and a non-refundable application fee online at the discounted rate of $15 has been extended to March 6. After March 6, the application fee will be $25. The final application deadline has been extended to March 13.
Volunteers serving on nonprofit boards and committees help decide how important health, education and human service issues are addressed in Tarrant County. Over the course of a month, Blueprint class participants equip themselves to be skilled and valued nonprofit volunteers by learning about nonprofit governance, finance and accounting, fundraising, advocacy, and legal and ethical transparency, among other topics.
Sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on April 7, 14, 21 and 28, with a networking event on May 5. The $300 tuition covers meals and materials during each session. Class size is limited, and sessions will take place in the United Way Board Room at 1500 N. Main, Suite 200, in Fort Worth. Limited partial tuition scholarships are available.
Last year 27 people graduated from the Blueprint for Board Service program, including a dozen participants from United Way’s first off-site Blueprint class at Alcon Laboratories.
