Formerly known as Arlington Human Service Planners (AHSP), United Way – Arlington was founded in 1981. As a decentralized planning arm of United Way of Tarrant County, United Way – Arlington brings together non-profit and public agencies, community volunteers and interested citizens to investigate emerging needs and develop community solutions by supporting many organizations that can effectively provide health and human services for the Arlington community.
United Way – Arlington also:
• Serves as a health and human service advisory body to the City of Arlington by providing information, data and recommending actions.
• Advocates human service policy changes when issues impact Arlington
• Promotes cooperation Arlington’s human service providers, the City of Arlington, Arlington Independent School District, Tarrant County Government and other related institutions.
• Provides focus on Arlington’s role in the county-wide human services agenda
