Our board of directors recently approved a new strategic plan for the years 2009 to 2012. It is a bold and challenging plan, and I want to thank our very capable Strategic Planning Committee chairman, Greg Humenesky, for leading the team.

Committee members Dionne Bagsby, Dan Hagan, Bowie Hogg, Mel LeBlanc, Elaine Petrus, Mary Jo A. Polidore, James Powell and Scott Spiker were perceptive, wise and enthusiastic throughout the process. They were joined by United Way’s senior vice presidents and me in creating this document for our future work.

One of the important outcomes was our vision statement. Soon to be posted in the halls of our offices in the Mercado Building, it reads:
"Tarrant County will be a place where children, individuals and families thrive, where
neighbors care for each other and where people willingly share the responsibility of
ensuring a safe and healthy community for all."

Thanks to all who helped. I will write more details of the plan in my upcoming posts.
